Mitchell Van Heyningen
Front runner of sophisticated and commercially-proven waste-to-energy projects in the Caribbean and Latin America. Mitchell graduated in aviation engineering, at Fokker B.V. in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
As a globetrotter, his understanding of cultures, leadership and negotiation skills have yielded him a broad and influential business and political network.
Prior to forming SIE, Mitchell was the Business Development Director based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for U.S. renewable energy development company. He also worked at Liro Engineering & Construction Company - based in New York as a Project Manager. Currently member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and active within the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CACCI).

Sheila Ravelo
Prominent business administration and operations executive with a background in sales, marketing, and client relations. Sheila holds a B.A. in Economics as well as International Studies and graduated with honors from Fordham University in New York, USA.
Sheila's superior intellect and analytical skills have led her to usher important corporate entrepreneurship projects at SIE while being accountable for the companies’ financial reporting and office administration.
Before establishing SIE, she functioned as a business administrator at GCS Dominicana SDE B.V. where she also worked on a waste-to-energy project in the province of Santo Domingo Este, Dominican Republic. Highly skilled in managing operational duties of business and propelling teams towards success. Extended experience in organizational leadership and executive administration lends to strong leadership capabilities.

Freddy Peña
Shareholder at SIE and President at SILVER - a rising consulting firm providing investment, strategy and finance counsel in the Dominican Republic.
Before earning his MBA at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, Freddy began his career as a field engineer in the construction of the Acropolis Center and Citibank Tower in Santo Domingo, Dom. Rep., followed by four years at Ingeniería Estrella S.A., a renowned local construction company.
Freddy currently acts as financial advisor for large-scale projects and companies in the Dominican Republic, including the negotiation of financing agreements with local and foreign financial institutions, negotiations for mergers and acquisitions, and the development of feasibility studies, business plans and company valuations.

Marc McManemin
Boasting over two decades of experience in the industry, Marc’s sophisticated know-how of recapitalization, refurbishment, and successful operations of Waste-to-Energy plants and other solid waste management facilities is critical to SIE.
As founder, CEO/President for Green Conversion Systems LLC (GCS), Marc won the award to develop, construct, and operate a new waste-to-energy facility for the City of Los Angeles (USA). During this period, Marc also assumed the role of President/Facility Manager of GCS Energy Recovery of Pinellas, where he oversaw and managed the turnaround of the largest mass burn waste-to-energy facility in the USA for Pinellas County Florida with an asset value of approximately $750 million.
Previously, Marc served as Vice-President for Distributed Energy Systems Corp. (DESC) and was the founding principal of a group of waste services companies that owned and operated a waste-to-energy facility in New York (USA). Marc’s hands-on waste management experience led him to the Dominican Republic (circa 2004), as a consultant, where he saw the critical need to introduce a commercial scale waste processing facility as a solution to an evolving economy.
Marc obtained certification as a Chief Facility Operator from ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and is a graduate of Hofstra University (USA) with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration.

Mario Méndez
Local environmental consult at SIE and Vice President at EMPACA - a highly specialized company providing diagnosis and solutions on issues related to the environment, ecotourism and human welfare in the Dominican Republic.
Mario is a Social Sciences PhD candidate at the University of the Basque Country, Spain. Throughout his career, he has led major projects in the landfill and solid waste management ecosystem, and is currently monitoring major projects harnessing solar and wind energy.
Mario also represents IBEROCONS, S.A. in the Dominican Republic, a Spanish technology-based company of the University of Almería doing Consulting Research & Technology for Latin America.

SIE's relationship with SENER includes having an exclusivity agreement to develop waste-to-energy projects in the Dominican Republic using the technology implemented at Zabalgarbi.

Our exclusive agreement with B&W covers Waste-to-Energy (WtE) projects in the Dominican Republic and enables SIE’s development efforts to be complemented by world-class and the best available WtE technology afforded by B&W.
This joint effort sets the platform for SIE’s pipeline of projects, enabling design, engineering, building, constructing, and commissioning state-of-the-art WtE facilities. The agreement also allows for potential synergies with B&W to operate and maintain the proposed WtE processing facilities.
